The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State in Nigeria, Philip Shekwo, has been found dead after being kidnapped late hours of yesterday Saturday 21st November, 2020 at his residence according to the Police security force.
A source close to the family confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES, today, Sunday afternoon.
A leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa, who asked not to be named, also confirmed the death.
The chairman of Karu local government, Samuel Akala, also confirmed the death on his Facebook page.
This newspaper had reported Mr Shekwo’s kidnap in the late hours of Saturday at his residence in Lafia.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Dele Longe, confirmed his kidnap earlier on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Police and other relevant security services to fish out the killers of the party’s Nasarawa state Chairman, Mr. Philip Shekwo who was reportedly abducted from his home in Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday night and found dead on Sunday.
In a statement released Sunday in Abuja by its deputy national publicity secretary Yekini Nabena, described the incident as “a dark day for the APC family.”
The APC, however condolesed with the late Shekwo’s immediate family, the Governor of Nasarawa state, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, the State Working Committee and the supporters and members over the shocking killing.
“We pray the Almighty God grants all that grieve the strength to bear this loss and also grant the late Philip Shekwo eternal rest.
“We urge a thorough investigation by the police and other relevant security service to quickly fish out the sponsors and perpetrators of this evil, heinous and barbaric crime and to be made to face the full weight of the law.”
